Important tax information!

Posted 10 days ago by Carlene Ferrier

The purpose of this communication is to provide the percentage of dues retained by the New Hampshire Nurses Association (NHNA) and the American Nurses Association (ANA) used for lobbying and therefore not deductible as a business expense for 2025. If you do not deduct your NHNA/ANA dues as a business expense, you may safely disregard this message.

Membership dues in the NHNA and the ANA are not deductible as a charitable contribution for tax purposes, but a portion may be deductible as a business expense. The portion of dues used for lobbying by NHNA and ANA is not deductible as a business expense and changes each year.

The percentage of your total ANA/NHNA dues paid that was retained by ANA for the year 2025 is 50.00%. In 2025, of your $174 annual dues, 50% was retained by ANA and 50% by NHNA ($87 each). Of this amount:

  • 29.2% of your ANA portion was used for lobbying and is not deductible as a business expense ($25.40)
  • 24.44% of your NHNA portion was used for lobbying and is not deductible as a business expense ($19.84)

If you have questions regarding this information, please consult your tax professional for further guidance.
