Roundtable with Senator Maggie Hassan

Marsha Davidson and Katie Adams represented NHNA in a roundtable discussion with Senator Maggie Hassan on 2/17/2020.  The purpose of the roundtable was for the Senator to understand the challenges faced in healthcare by front-line workers.  This was an opportunity to voice the perspective and needs of the bedside nurse.  Marsha gave what the Senator called a “compelling narrative” of how the Covid crisis has impacted her colleagues and the strain of providingcare for, what both described, “overflow of patients requiring higher levels of care.” Katie added that she has witnessed members of the entire interdisciplinary team leaving bedside practice due to the increased demand and stress. When the Senator asked for solutions, Marsha talked about the necessity of community and home-based initiatives/investments while Katie considered the nursing shortage and potential solutions.  Marsha was featured in the story that aired on the WMUR 5PM News.
