For the past four years, Joan Widmer has served as the Executive Director (ED) of the New Hampshire Nurses Association (NHNA). Joan's experience as a Certified Emergency Nurse, and as an executive with management and accounting experience, contributed to her successful day-to-day leadership of NHNA. Ever present at Commission meetings and NHNA events, Joan is also known in the legislature as an expert nurse to go to for testimony on issues impacting nurses and nursing. Her talents will be missed, and her shoes challenging to fill when she retires this fall and the Board of Directors wishes to thank her for her service to NHNA.
The NHNA Board of Directors created a committee to review and update the Executive Director job description, and after input from the entire board, the approved job description is now posted on the NHNA website. The ideal candidate will be a nurse with strong leadership, management, supervision, and interpersonal skills.
With the goal of fostering the mission and vision of NHNA, the key duties of the ED include:
- Mentoring and advancing the work of NHNA volunteer members, as well as assisting with all volunteer activities and commissions
- Fostering inter-professional collaboration with statewide stakeholders
- Overseeing the legislative climate on behalf of NHNA
- Serve as spokesperson for the association in collaboration with the board of directors
This is a salaried, part-time position for 24-hours per week. The position requires some evening and occasional weekends and reflects a blended work environment including virtual work, work in the Concord office and travel both within New Hampshire and nationally.
Applications will be accepted through September 22, 2020.
